Victorian eras brought us the incredibly romantic Gold Padlock Garnet Clasp Pendant. Beyond being beautiful to look at, these pendants were packed with symbolism, representing deep love, unwavering loyalty, and cherished remembrance of what truly matters.
A magnificently ornamented, multidimensional, splendid antique late Georgian / early Victorian heart padlock clasp pendant is the most desirable by any true antique collector. Extremely rare and dating to approximately 1830-1850.
Crafted from 9ct yellow gold (presumably for extra strength/longevity) and featuring exquisite spirals of foliage and flowers at the front. Amid the foliate details there are three large foiled luscious deep Red Garnet cabochons in typical cut down settings. The most gorgeous glowing garnets that catch the light beautifully.
To the reverse of the padlock pendant is closed and shown some sign of wear at the back. Shown some definite love in the past.
This is a working padlock.. the arm is strong (crafted from and tested as 9ct gold), opens and closes very securely, and can be worn on a bracelet or suspended from a favorite chain on a bolt ring or dog clips.

The front is in beautiful antique condition, slight sign of wear on the garnets, fully functional, stunningly handcrafted. This piece is an asset to any serious collectors jewelry wardrobe.

CONDITION:
Very very good antique condition. No chips to garnets, well set and secure. Padlock arm is strong and opens and closes very securely. To the reverse of the padlock pendant is closed and shown some sign of wear at the back and the sides but nothing is obvious from the front. Shown that the clasp was loved in the past. A lovely all original piece with no repairs. Thanks for a lower gold carat which has the advantage of being extremely sturdy, holding its shape and any precious stones more securely than higher carat weight, helping them to survive to today's times in incredible great condition. Although 9 carat gold is less expensive than the higher carats it has been used to create some truly wonderful pieces, including a great amount of fine antique and vintage jewelry. All parts seem to be original.
