About the Item
Mythical and bold, this antique pendant (circa 1890–1900) was originally part of a 14k gold bracelet and has been thoughtfully transformed with the addition of a custom 14k gold bail.
The design features a finely detailed griffin, a legendary creature symbolizing strength, courage, and protection, poised against a dramatic backdrop of polished black onyx. The griffin is further distinguished by a luminous crescent of pearls, a motif traditionally associated with femininity, renewal, and guidance.
The pendant measures approximately 1.4 inches from top to bottom by 0.95 inches wide, and is accompanied by a 15-inch 14k gold chain, making it ready to wear. It remains in very good antique condition, with crisp detail and well-preserved enamel and gemstone accents.
The gold content has been professionally verified using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, ensuring authenticity and quality.
