About the Item
Antique La Belle Époque natural pearl and diamond pendant necklace in platinum and gold, Portuguese, circa 1900. This garland jewel of geometric, floral and foliate motifs is millegrain-set throughout with natural pearls and Old European brilliant-cut and rose-cut diamonds. Typical of the Edwardian period, the pendant is composed by a geometric openwork cartouche surmount issuing an articulated swag embellished with a squared openwork plaque and with three articulated drops – two with natural pearls and one with an Old European brilliant-cut diamond. The pendant is set on a platinum faceted cable link chain secured with a bolt ring fitting. In very good condition, with a charming patina consistent with its age.
Pearls: 6.35-4.63 mm; white and cream colors. Diamonds: estimated 2.0ct in total (largest ones estimated 0.50ct and 0.35ct). Oporto (Portugal) hallmark “tiger II” (used 1887-1937) for 19.2kt (800/1,000) gold; partial maker’s mark “A”. Dimensions: 7.0 x 3.1 cm (pendant); 63.0 cm (chain). Gross weight: 12.27g.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique Victorian pendant has been crafted in 9k yellow gold and silver.
The pierced decorated pendant has a central interlacing scrolling design, accented with a central stylised floral design comprised of five impressive feature Old European cut diamonds, in a combination of claw and millegrain bezel settings.
The symmetrical silver set frame is further ornamented with twenty-nine pavé set Dutch cut diamonds.
The upper portion of the scrolling design terminates with two further Old European cut diamonds, in addition to a central trefoil shaped cluster ornamented with three natural pearls.
Either side of the antique setting incorporates an interlacing loop embellished with further natural pearl terminals.
