About the Item
A charming antique pendant (circa 1890), designed as a pansy flower rendered in 14k gold and set with five old European cut diamonds in silver collet settings accented by a natural, untreated ruby. The pansy—long a symbol of remembrance and affection—was a beloved motif in late Victorian jewelry, and this example captures both sentiment and elegance in finely detailed form.
The pendant measures approximately 1.1 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom by 0.6 inches wide and weighs 2.75 grams.
The gold has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and confirmed with jeweler’s acid testing, authenticating its 14k composition. In very good antique condition, with a small bit of wear to the crown facets of the ruby.
