An archaeological revival gold cross brooch/pendant, consisted of five square panels, each with a concave rosette, the central one set with a square-cut ruby, the other four set with a square-cut emerald, with granulation and wire-work decorations, each arm terminating to a double-scroll motif, each of the four corners with a pearl-set round wire-work panel, all mounted in yellow gold, with pendant and brooch fitting, circa 1840, unmarked, tested as 18ct gold, with base metal pin, measuring 3.9 x 3.9cm, gross weight 7.1 grams.
This antique brooch/pendant is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold, with base metal pin.
This superb archaeological revival gold cross brooch/pendant is part of the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. Gracefully composed, the cross is an embodiment of intricate artistry, featuring five square panels adorned with delicately crafted concave rosettes. At its heart lies a resplendent square-cut ruby, surrounded by four square-cut emeralds. Each panel is embellished with meticulous granulation and wire-work decorations, all masterfully mounted in yellow gold. With versatile pendant and brooch fittings, this masterpiece is a testament to the elegance of the 1840s.
