A magnificent, fine and impressive vintage carved opal, 4.80 carat ruby and 0.05 carat diamond, 18k yellow gold necklace - boxed; part of our diverse collection of vintage necklaces. This magnificent, fine and impressive vintage opal necklace has been crafted in 18k yellow gold. The feature drop of this Art Nouveau necklace is comprised of a stunning carved opal, modelled in the form of a female portrait, held within a curvilinear setting replicating the details of the figure's hair. The sinuous hair setting extends from the feature design and is embellished with four impressive round cabochon cut rubies; three are surmounted with an individual impressive eight cut diamond and the surrounding mount bears two further diamonds. This central design articulates from an Art Nouveau style graduating sinuous bar links, all bearing a matte brushed finish. This magnificent vintage gold necklace secures to the reverse with a lobster clasp fastening. The reverse of the gold opal necklace setting bears the engraved inscriptions 'Necklace designed by B. JACOT' pertaining to London jewellery designer and artist Bernadine Jacot and 'Opal carving by ALFRED POCOCK, Fabergé c1950'*. The clasp ring loop is hallmarked with the maker's mark (JSC - J S Cattermole), the gold guarantee mark (crown), the London Assay Office hallmark (leopard's head) and the date letter for 1998 (y). The necklace has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18k gold. The antique necklace is comprised of a yellow gold rope chain, with a central setting comprised of forty-six conjoined circular links; each alternate link features a central yellow gold ball motif and twisted rope border. The impressive necklace is embellished with a central pendant, suspended via a yellow gold foliate decorated ring loop. The quatrefoil shaped pendant features a central claw set Old European cut diamond, surrounded by four stunning oval cabochon cut opals. The central pendant is segmented via yellow gold stemmed ball motifs and incorporates interlacing scrolling motifs to the nadir. The stunning Victorian necklace features four yellow gold three-leaf clover motifs, each embellished with an Old European cut diamond to the centre.
