About the Item
This beautiful and finely crafted French silver plated mirror pendant is made circa 1890 and features a beautiful repousse mistletoe design in a very detailed Art Nouveau style. The oval pendant opens sideways to reveal small mirror. There is also a ring at the top attached to the bail, so the pendant can be worn on a chain. Chain is not included.
Unmarked. A lovely gift to someone that you love or a wonderful piece to treat yourself.
'In ancient times, the Druids associated Mistletoe with vivacity, because the plant miraculously stayed green and blossomed even during the winter. They also believed it could perform miracles and used it as medicine to encourage fertility.'
PERIOD: French, circa 19th century
MEASUREMENTS: It measures 6 cm long by 4 cm wide. It weighs 17 grams.
CONDITION: Some wear and scratches on the surface, mirror is heavily worn. Otherwise good antique condition.
