About the Item
This lustrous white South Sea baroque pearl is set in a Byzantine-flavored, satiny 18 karat yellow gold two-part pedant handmade in our shop by Eytan Brandes.
The pearl has a graceful egg shape with a pronounced ridge at the top, mostly obscured by the "petals" of the cap.
The cap is linked to a nicely oversized bale that will accommodate just about any chain or cord. We think it looks great with the rhodolite necklace we made specifically for it. This necklace has three even strands of tiny (2mm) faceted natural rhodolite garnet beads in an elegant shade of magenta. The closure is a 14 karat gold vintage bayonet clasp from Eytan's bottomless box of old clasps. The clasp has been fully restored and Eytan replaced the figure 8 safety catch to ensure it stays put. Note that you can wear the chain and pendant separately. Measurements: The pearl is 13.5mm in diameter, side to side and about 16.5mm long. The pendant is just under 1-1/2" long. The chain is 17 inches long.
Marks: The inside of the patterned tube bail is stamped "18K." Eytan has signed the back of the pendant with an "E." The bayonet clasp is stamped "14K" on the tongue.
Weights: The pendant weighs 9.2 grams, of which approximately 3.8 grams can be attributed to the pearl. The chain weighs another 11.8 grams.
