About the Item
Eytan Brandes has baked up a chocolate lover's dream: Nearly 12 carats of shimmery brown sapphire set in a halo of sparkling white diamonds suspended on a string of tiny faceted ironstone beads flecked with opal.
The sapphire is a checkerboard faceted slice with a flat bottom, cut in a graceful teardrop. Eytan made a 14 karat white gold halo specifically for this pretty and unexpectedly elevated stone. The halo is set with 26 natural, earth-mined and untreated diamonds.
Eytan always uses good quality small diamonds, but these are a smidgen above ("collection quality," as they say in the trade) - perfectly cut VS1 clarity and G color or better for maximum sparkle.
The boulder opal chain is more boulder than opal -- we picked it because we love the varying shades of brown. But the little touches of opal -- most just a silicate luster but sometimes a fiery charge of color -- give these beads a distinctive sparkle.*
The closure is a 14 karat white gold diamond barrel clasp with figure eight safety catch. It's set with three diamonds. The diamonds are about the same size as the halo diamonds but are of typical "findings" quality -- SI clarity and H-I color.
