About the Item
This is a highly collectable and recognised Robert Goossens Byzantine design Gripoix Glass pendant Necklace by Chanel dating to the early 1980’s
Decorated with red, green and blue Gripoix glass panels with clear rhinestone accents and glass pearl finials.
The double row gold plated chain is set with stations of red, green, blue Gripoix glass beads and glass pearls with clear rhinestone set rondelles.
The back of the pendant is marked with a cartouch signed CHANEL with double “c” and copyright mark. This mark is sometimes seen on pieces for a short time after 1983.
The chain length is 27 inches and the pendant measures 4 inches x 3.1/4 inches.
This was a favourite design of Coco Chanel’s and she can be seen wearing a similar design. This design was produced over a long period, from the 1920’s right up to the 1980’s and into the 90’s. All were a variation of the design with some differing elements, as can be seen in our last picture.
In excellent condition, with no cracks or loss to pearl and glass elements.
