Geometric Pi pendant-necklace designed by Jean Dinh Van. This piece of jewelry is an exceptional and very sophisticated design, created in Paris France by the jewelry designer Jean Dinh Van, back in the 1991. This is the larger forty mm Pi pendant-necklace, carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 24 karats (.999/.999 Au) with a delicate hammered finish. The Pi figure is suspended in an adjustable silk cord. The design of this piece was originally inspired by an 11th century Mayan gold disc, found in the Yucatan peninsula, and is actually exhibited at the Museo Nacional De Antropologia in Mexico. This gold disc blends perfectly with the geometric motif so dear to the Maison of Dinh Van. The value of pi is approximately 3.14, or 22/7. To 39 decimal places, Pi is 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197. Pi is an irrational number, which means it is not equal to the ratio of any two whole numbers. Its digits do not repeat. Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark DVD associated to the workshop of Dinh Van, the mark of the eagle for the assay of the gold, the mark .999/.999 for the finesse of 24kt fine gold and signed in full, "DINH VAN 24KT .999". Jean Dinh Van He is a French designer, that was born in 1927 from a French-Vietnamese family. His successful career started behind the workbench at the French jewelry house of Cartier in 1946 and then work for Pierre Cardin. In 1972 he started his own company and the followed years his revolutionary designs and style caught on quickly and launched him to the forefront of the jewelry and fashion world. All his designs are very geometric and modern, both, his original vintage pieces created for Cartier and the contemporary creations are highly collectible. Dinh Van pieces are very fashionable, sophisticate and easy to wear, also can be displayed as a small toys, sculptures and "Object's du Vertu". Since Jean Dinh Van, the first Parisian minimalist jeweler, left Cartier and opened his own shop at la Place Vendome in 1965, the brand has established itself as one of the premiere Parisian jewelers. He created timeless, show-stopping designs, such as this incredible lapis ring, that will make you stand out from the crowd.
