About the Item
An Edwardian diamond cross pendant, the openwork Latin cross millegrain-set throughout with graduated old European-cut diamonds, seven diamonds individually framed in square collets that articulate the central axis and the mid-points of each arm and estimated to weigh 1.2 carats in total; the terminals formed as trefoil scrolls, all open-back mounted in platinum with a knife-edge gallery, suspended from a tapering diamond-set bale on a fine trace-link chain; all diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 5.00 carats, assessed mounted as G–H colour and VS1–SI1 clarity, circa 1915, later hallmarked platinum 950, bearing the Bentley
Skinner sponsor mark, measuring approximately 6.2 x 4cm (including bale), gross weight 13.4 grams.
This fine cross pendant comes from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. This pendant is in the shape of a stylised and ornate cross, set throughout with glittering diamonds. This piece features fine openwork platinum, a material which became popular in the early twentieth century for its strength and ability to form intricate and delicate shapes. This cross is suspended from a platinum chain, which complements this lovely piece wonderfully.
This antique cross pendant is in excellent condition for its age.
