About the Item
An Edwardian pearl and diamond kite-shaped pendant, centrally with nine pearls forming a line, between two rose-cut diamond-set triangles each centered with a diamond-set acanthus motif, all surrounded by a pearl and diamond cluster and suspended by an old-cut diamond-set pendant loop, all set in platinum, circa 1905, measuring approximately 4.2 x 3.3cm, gross weight 6.2 grams.
This pendant is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as platinum.
A dainty Edwardian pendant. Made around 1905, this pendant comes from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. Edwardian-era jewellery is characterised by the use of delicate openwork platinum, floral motifs, and the combination of diamonds and pearls. This pendant exemplifies all the elements of Edwardian style in a sophisticated and eye-catching way. The kite-shaped pendant is set with lively diamonds and shimmering pearls, and features the acanthus motif, a foliate motif inspired by Ancient Greek architecture. This subtly dazzling pendant would look gorgeous on a platinum chain for a contemporary look or hung from a plush velvet ribbon in the style of the period.
