About the Item
This platinum, 14 karat white gold and diamond necklace dates to the Edwardian period and is in a style that is often referred to as a 'lavalier'. The pendant which has been handcrafted comprises of 3 Old European cut diamonds each set in a round setting of platinum hanging from an articulated bale. The top two diamonds in the pendant are mille grain set, are of K colour and P2 clarity, and weigh 0.12 carat each. The larger diamond to the bottom of the pendant is again mille grain set, is J/K colour, of P1 clarity and weighs 1.60 carat. In all the necklace totals 1.84 carat and is suspended from a fine 14 karat white gold chain that is secured with a bolt ring clasp that is working well. The colour and clarity of the stones for this period of jewellery is fairly typical, with stones that were less 'white' being the preferred choice during the early part of the 20th Century. This really exquisite necklace despite being a delicate piece is exceptionally well appointed with quality stones and beautiful craftsmanship.
