About the Item
Eytan Brandes used the case from a very old (probably 1920 or thereabouts) ladies wristwatch to make this one-of-a-kind pendant.
The case is 14 karat white gold with sharp engraving on the front plus some stamped scrollwork on the sides and coin-edging throughout.
The corners are set with minimally though nicely faceted sapphire triangles (we're assuming they're synthetic, since that would have been customary for a ladies wristwatch in this period). Two very small single-cut diamonds are set at the watchface opening's ends, and one more, even smaller diamond is set on the triangular shoulder piece (which originally connected to a velvet watchstrap).
We purchased the rough emerald and had it cut and polished to fit the watchface opening. It's very "dirty" as emeralds go -- mostly opaque and ranging in color from a rich, chewy dark to medium-light green with the barest hint of blue. The blatant inclusions -- dramatic dark crystal streaks running across the stone -- only add to the stone's character.
We think this pendant looks great with a heavier chain, such as a thick cord, gold mesh, or beads. With that in mind, Eytan added an oversized top loop (the inside dimensions are about 6mm x 7mm) in recycled 14 karat white gold. We made a beaded necklace to match the pendant with double strands of 3.5mm natural emerald beads. This necklace is 17.5" long and has a 14 karat white gold box clasp. The pendant slides on and off, so you can mix or match, but if you would prefer the pendant without the chain, or if you would like us to source another type of chain for you, please just let us know. We'll provide adjusted pricing and options.

- Condition:Replacements made: Watchface and guts have been removed. Watchface has been replaced with emerald cabochon. Case has been soldered shut. Prongs on one end have been removed. Jump rings added. Polished. This watch case is probably at least 100 years old but it s basically in excellent condition other than customary surface scratches and wear on the engraving. The emerald, top loop and chain are all new.
