About the Item
An antique ruby, pearl, and yellow gold locket, comprising five pearls, and six round ruby cabochons, in 18 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Antique 18K Yellow Gold Ruby and Pearl Locket is the bejewelled cross. What’s yours? Perhaps the luxurious yellow gold? Or the perfect size?
This antique locket is set to the centre with an applied cross. The cross is set with a pearl to the centre, and to each point of the cross. The cross is further set with glowing, cabochon rubies, interspersing the pearls. The pearls are pale, lustrous, and well-matched with one another, and the rubies are a luxurious deep red and well-matched with one another. The cross is set within a concave gold panel, which has an opulent bloomed finish, which is further surrounded by a highly polished band of gold. The locket opens on a hinge, revealing a hinged glass-covered locket compartment, within which a photo, miniature painting, or small memento could be placed. Verso, the locket is plain, polished yellow gold. The locket is suspended from a plain gold bale. The pendant is in great condition, having a few tiny dings to the front and back. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
