About the Item
An unusual and very rare early 1960’s Necklace created by Roger Scemama for Christian Dior .
This is such a beautiful and stunning rare necklace with gorgeous colour combination of green and black poured glass on a japanned metal structure makes this a stand out example of the early work of Roger Scemama from the early 1960s .
The last few pictures are taken from the book Adorning Fashion by Deanna Farneti Cera, page 305 listing the brooch as a signed Christian Dior 1960 and also from an auction house in France showing identical work by Roger Scemama for CHRISTIAN DIOR .
A double row of faceted jet black Gripoix poured glass hand made beads, glass pearls and jade Gripoix glass beads are fashioned in a festoon design with large jet black Gripoix glass drops. A central pendant of a large jade Gripoix glass cabochon is set in a fleur de lys crown setting with a surround of faceted jet glass stones, glass pearls and faceted jet glass beads.
A hook and ring clasp is set with jade glass and faceted jet glass beads and is signed to the back FRANCE.
In superb condition, magnificent. An exceptional and rare collectors piece
Length of 26 inch with pendant drop of 3 inch.
