THIS IS A STUNNING ANTIQUE OLD MINE CUT AND ROSE CUT DIAMOND, SAPPHIRE AND PEARL MUSEUM QUALITY FRENCH BEAUX ARTS, NAPOLEON III, BELLE EPOQUE NECKLACE IN 18 KARAT GOLD. THE GORGEOUS NECKLACE FROM FRANCE HAS A STUNNING ROSE FLOWER GARLAND WREATH MOTIF DESIGN AND IS SET WITH OLD MINE CUT DIAMONDS, ROSE CUT DIAMONDS, SQUARE CUT FACETED SAPPHIRES AND NATURAL PEARL DROPS IN THE MOST GORGEOUS 18K YELLOW AND WHITE GOLD ROSE MOTIF NECKLACE WITH FRENCH HALLMARKS. THE RARE NECKLACE DATES TO C1860-1900.
The necklace is 18 karat yellow and white gold and features a classic Napoleon III French design inspired by the forms of nature. It has a rose garland motif and is highlighted with diamonds and four natural sapphires with lustrous pearl drop adornments. These pearls are most likely natural pearls. The French craftsmanship is absolutely the finest.
Each of the graduated medallion sections is set with two Old Mine Cut Diamonds in the centers. The diamonds in the center section are each .15 Carat in size. They are gorgeous sparkling white antique diamonds. Rose Cut Diamonds are set all along the ribbon sections of each medallion and these diamonds are set in white gold. The remainder of the necklace is 18 karat yellow gold. Between each rose section are beautiful square cut faceted natural fine blue sapphires. The three center medallions are set with a pearl drop. The pendant sections hang from a French link chain.
It is very rare to find a classic French Belle Epoque necklace with an abundance of Old Mine and Rose Cut Diamonds. The square cut Sapphires and fine Pearl drops add further rarity to the necklace. This is one of the most beautiful antique French necklaces we have seen.
The necklace is beautifully made in 18 Karat white and yellow gold and is marked with the French Eagle mark for 18 Karat Gold.
The necklace is 16 1/2 inches (42cm) long.
The central drop is 30mm wide and hangs down 26mm.
