About the Item
Georgian necklace with blue and white enamel.
This is a rare pendant-chain created in England during the Georgian period, between the 1800 and 1820. The piece is very colorful and was crafted in an oval shape in solid .850/.999 silver with shell patterns at the reverse. The piece is decorated with applications of blue and white enamels and embellished with an ancient amphora which is mounted with sixty-six faceted cut marcasite. The pendant is fitted on top with a movable bale ring to wear in the included chain.

Measurements: 48 mm by 22 mm by 9 mm (1.89 x 0.87 x 0.35 Inches).
Hallmarks: The pendant is stamped with unidentified European ancient marks. Electronically tested for the assay and warranty of the silver, with results as follows, ".850/.999 Ag".
The Georgian Jewelry
The term Georgian, refers to an era in English history during the reign of Kings George I to King George IV from 1714-1840. Like the term Victorian (used for jewelry during Queen Victoria's rule), it is accepted in use as a term that refers to certain styles of jewelry. Pearls, sapphires, rubies and garnets were widely used in Georgian jewelry, often cut in the shape of a cabochon or teardrop. Rubies and pearls were a fashionable combination at the time.
