This is an absolutely stunning and very rare large antique Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch with a hand carved image of a Goddess Maiden with wonderful swirling robes and scarf. The cameo is set in silver and has a bale to be worn as a necklace as well as a pin stem to be worn as a brooch if desired.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare. The dramatic cameo is 2.5 inches tall. The image of the goddess in her stunning diaphanous robes are an absolute masterwork of cameo carving. The image of the Goddess Maiden has extremely fine details in her face, and her clothing is extraordinary. The magnificent large pendant is a masterpiece of cameo artistry and the work of one of the finest cameo artists.
The cameo is set in a beautiful braided motif framed border in silver. The cameo pendant has a lovely bale to be worn as a necklace as well as a pin to be worn as a brooch. The bale is articulated so as to be invisible when worn as a brooch.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most extraordinary carved gems we have seen.
The pendant is 2 1/2 inches tall not including the bale and is 1 15/16 inches wide.
