About the Item
This is a Museum Quality Antique Victorian Etruscan Revival Carved Coral Pendant Necklace or Brooch depicting a Goddess or Maiden. The Coral Goddess is set in 10-14 Karat Gold. The pendant is a masterpiece of the period. The brooch portion is removable so that when worn as a pendant there is no pin attachment present.
The three dimensional head of the Goddess is exquisitely carved. The face is elegant and stunning! Her hair is adorned with feathers in a spectacular masterwork of coral carving. She wears earrings and a necklace. Surrounding the face is a magnificent acanthus leaf scroll motif border of great beauty. The hair, face and border are absolutely wonders of antique coral carving. The carving continues onto the top of the head. Her face exudes tranquility, peace and romance. This neoclassical jewel is to be treasured by collectors of superb antique jewels, lovers of Goddess and Maiden jewels, Etruscan Revival jewels, and those who treasure the early coral masterpieces. The pendant or brooch dates to circa 1830 - 1900.
The pendant is 48mm (1 7/8 inches) tall and 43mm (1 3/4 inches) wide. The coral is 18mm deep.
The coral is set in 10-14 Karat Gold.
