About the Item
The pendant is made of green jasper and framed in a gold and diamond setting. The intaglio represents a naked male figure sitting, portrayed in profile while resting one foot on a stand. In one hand he wraps a caduceus, which is a stick with two twisted snakes, symbol of the balance of good and evil. The caduceus is an attribute of Mercury, deity of Roman mythology where he was considered protector of trade and travelers, as well as being the messenger of the gods and the one who led the souls in the afterlife.
