About the Item
The Locket, which became a must-have in the second half of the nineteenth century, has always had the function of keeping important memories close to the heart. This pendant, in particular, was probably made in Italy around the 70s in 18ct yellow gold enamelled in two colours. The surface demonstrates the meticulous precision of its creator who, as required by the paillonné technique, is done by placing tiny gold sheets on the enamel to create the delicate floral motif. The opening and closing mechanism, made entirely by hand, is still ready to store memories. This jewel thus becomes not only a precious "Cloud" but also a place of protection of the ancient knowledge of fine Italian goldsmithing.
