About the Item
This striking sterling silver cross pendant is hand-stamped and hallmarked “J.” Measuring 3" x 3½", the cross features five high-grade Carico Lake turquoise cabochons, each set in finely crafted silver bezels. The 5/8" bale brings the total length to 4⅛", with a 3/8" bale diameter.

Carico Lake turquoise comes from a small mining district south of Battle Mountain in Lander County, Nevada. Known for its exceptional color range—from vivid blues to vibrant greens—the material has become highly sought after and collectible. Its most prized specimens display fresh spring-green hues blending into soft sky blues, often highlighted by a warm golden-brown spiderweb matrix.
The turquoise derives its name from an ancient lake, long dried, that once occupied the area—hence “Carico Lake.” Today, mining is extremely limited, making the supply scarce. Because of its rarity, beauty, and strong collector demand, Carico Lake turquoise is considered one of the most valuable varieties of American turquoise, with excellent long-term investment appeal.
