About the Item
This wonderful and exceedingly rare contemporary, (new) pendant depicts a pipa, which is a Chinese stringed instrument similar to a lute. The pipa was carved from slightly bluish-green Junlun jade, which is sourced from the Kunlun mountains in Northeastern China. This pendant was created by one of my most exclusive sources for the finest jade in all of China.
The pendant is significant in both size and presence; It measures 58.4mm x 27.1mm and is 13.14mm thick. Highly detailed, the pipa pendant was carved entirely by hand. The jade has been given the softest imaginable powder-coat-finish. Of course, it is not a true powder-coat but rather a soft, nearly matt polish. The thick silk cord is adjustable by sliding the two knots: from 30" to 44". Of course, your jeweler could create a bail and the pendant could be worn on a heavy chain if you desire.
The jade is opaque; it is the organic carved form, the color, and the distinctive polish we love here. And, of course, the fact that this is not Canadian nephrite but true Chinese Kunlun nephrite. This one-of-a-kind pendant ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is nephrite and is untreated. The geological lab did not identify the origin but I guarantee the origin to be China's Kunlun mountains.
