About the Item
An antique, seed pearl, blue enamel, and yellow gold locket, comprising nine seed pearls, within a blue enamel star, in 9 karat yellow gold.
The locket is a large, statement size. Oval in shape, at the centre is a cluster of shimmering seed pearls. The seed pearls reside within a striking 8-pointed star, picked out in cobalt blue enamel, which is atop an offset 8-pointed star in textured gold. The edge of the locket is decorated with beautiful foliate engraving on both sides, with the back panel of the locket in plain, polished gold. The back of the locket could be engraved with a personal monogram or motif. The locket is suspended from a substantial bale, in plain, polished yellow gold. The locket opens on a hinge to reveal two compartments. The compartment on the left side is deep, with the original glass and beautiful braided gold bezel. The panel can be eased out, and a photograph, or small keepsake placed beneath. The compartment on the right side contains a plain, polished yellow gold bezel, which would hold a photograph in place. The locket is in good condition, with a few tiny dings on the back, in keeping with age and wear. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
