This is a spectacular and very rare monumental antique Art Deco - Victorian - Belle Epoque Lava Cameo Pendant Necklace with a magnificent deeply carved lava cameo of a woman with spectacular flower adornments in her flowing hair. The cameo sets in a silver swivel setting within a circular mount with a garland of flowers at the base set with pearls. The face and hair of the woman are a masterpiece of artistic expression - her face is carved with exquisite detail throughout, her hair is stunning and the flowers in her hair are wonderful! The lava cameo is so very special with its very deep carving and the gorgeous pearl and flower garland setting. The surround and bale are silver gilt. The cameo pendant is a wonderful large size of 3 inches long. The pendant dates to circa 1850-1900.
The pendant is 3 inches (8 cm) tall including the bale. Without the bales the pendant is 2 1/2 inches (6.2 cm) tall and 2 inches (5.2 cm) wide.

The locket features a stunning hard stone hand carved Cameo of a woman in exquisite clorthes with a beautiful face, wonderful hair and wearing a pendant earring. The work of the artisan is absolutely superb. Carving hardstone cameos requires much greater skill and artistry than shell cameos. This white and black onyx carving is magnificent.
The locket is Gold-Filled with a braided surround on the front. The reverse has an open work filigree design. The chain is a wonderful gold filled belcher link chain of great beauty. I love the design of the 3 bales with their wonderful finish.
