Museum quality, magnificent large antique Georgian rose cut 6 TCW diamond and 26.3 TCW royal purple amethyst pendant
Early 19th Century
The scale and quality of this spectacular piece is consistent with jewels ceated for royalty and high aristocracy. Amethyst and diamond jewels have a storied history, especially with the British and Russian Monarchies- the Kent amethysts, Princess Diana's Garrard amethyst and diamond cross, Queen Alexandra's diamond and amethyst tiara which was a gift from Tsar Alexander III of Russia. Carl Faberge created several documented amethyst and diamond jewels for the Russian market and 18th century Russian State Jewels included amethyst and diamond examples. The superb rich, deep purple color of the amethyst in the present pendant is called "Deep Siberian", describing an intense violet hue with flashes of red and blue. It is considered the pinnacle of amethyst quality.

Amethyst: deep rich purple hue with flashes of red and blue traditionally associated with Siberian amethysts, facet cut, natural very faint feathering observed under magnification, 23mm by 18mm by 10.5 mm, aproxmately 26.3 TCW
Tested silver topped 14K gold
Diamonds: 16 large rose cut diamonds, each hand cut and unique, measuring between 5mm and 4mm in diameter and approximately 2mm in depth; 36 small rose cut diamonds measuring approximately 1mm, 3 round cut diamonds on bale measuring 1.5mm to 2mm. Approximate total diamond weight conservatively calculated is 6 carats.
Condition: Very Good, light surface wear commensurate with age, the diamond bale is hinged and detachable dating to the late 19th century, very minute nicks observed under 10X magnification.
Provenance: from the estate of an important collector of historical jewels whose collection included Faberge, Cartier, VCA, Castellani and early Tiffany.
