THE SMOKY TOPAZ HAS INCREDIBLE COLOR AND CLARITY AND IS A MAGNIFICENT GEM. THE GEM IS 62MM (2.5 INCHES) LONG, 47MM WIDE AND 39MM DEEP. Provenance: The necklace is from the Bel Air estate of Delmer and Mary Lou Daves where a who's who of Hollywood legends (Cole Porter entertained guests at the piano) were entertained. Their love story began on the set of the 1938 film, "Professor Beware." As a successful contract writer for Warner Bros., Delmer Daves wrote the screenplay and wanted to visit the set to see how things were going. 19-year-old, Mary Lawrence was cast as the Bride. He was instantly smitten. "So you're playing the bride? I wish you would marry me," he quipped. "I shall answer you with the same spirit you asked me. Of course I will be yours forever." The two were married for 39 years, had three children and a lifetime of adventures.
