This superb antique Netsuke piece that was later made into a pendant. It is made of bone and has gold, mother of pearl. There is an elegant Plum blossom. The detail is incredible, very fine craftsmanship.
Ho-jitsu (also Hojitsu) was acknowledged as the finest carver in all Tokyo, where he resided until his death. Ho-jitsu was a vassal of the shogun, even serving as a priest while he enjoyed his lord's sponsorship as a netsuke artist. His family crest consisted of a Chinese bellflower in a circle. He was also patronized by the Kaimyo of Tsugaru.
