The gemstone at the centre of this opal pendant is an Australian boulder opal from Winton opal mining fields in Queensland, Australia. Precious opal's distinctive quality is its "play of colour," a phenomenon that manifests in opal's colours shifting and changing as the gem moves. Australian opals, in general, are the quality benchmark for the world family of opals for their durability and beauty. The boulder opal in this opal pendant comes from Winton, Australia. It is a highly coveted opal type because of the electrifyingly vivid play of colour characteristic to these gems with the dark ironstone base. This particular opal has a vivid green-blue colour, which shifts and change as the gem moves. The pendant is new.
