Indulge in a stunning antique Victorian Cameo Pendant with an image of the God Neptune or Poseidon rising out of the sea with a maiden on horseback set in 12-14 Karat gold. Leading the procession out of the water is Pan with his horn.
The antique cameo pendant is made of white porcelain in the style of Wedgewood. The pendant or charm is set in 12-14 Karat gold.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most unusual cameo gems we have seen. The cameo dates to the 19th Century.
Neptune is the god of freshwater and the sea in the Roman religion. He is the counterpart of the Greek god Poseidon. In the Greek-inspired tradition, he is a brother of Jupiter and Pluto, with whom he presides over the realms of heaven, the earthly world (including the underworld), and the seas.
Like Poseidon, he was also worshipped by the Romans as a god of horses.
The pendant is 20mm tall including the bales. Without the bale it is 1/2 inch (13mm) tall and is 18mm wide. The pendant is 4mm deep.
The pendant 10-12 Karat Gold.
The pendant weighs 1.9 grams.
