This is a colorful and very rare pendant-brooch, created in New York City by Richard Oliver
Bloomfield during the Art Nouveau period, back in 1900. This piece is very unique and has been carefully crafted in the shape of a pansy flower in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with satin and polished finishes. It is embellished with applications of non-glossy powder enamel, with colors gradations of dark purple, purple, white and a hint of yellow, and mounted with a natural ruby.
The enamel work is exceptional and meticulous, far exceeding the details of the fibers and veins of the leaves. It is a little jewel with exquisite and exceptional details, Pansies flowers symbolize a hope that love should not be forgotten. It is fitted at the reverse with a horizontal hinged pin bar with a mechanical lock to wear as a brooch and a hinged retractable swivel ring to wear in a chain as a pendant.
Ruby: Mounted in the center in a six-prongs setting, with 1 round faceted cut ruby of about 0.50 carats.
Weight: 10.95 Grams (7.05 Dwt).
Measurements: 32 mm by 34 mm by 6 mm (1.26 x 1.34 x 0.24 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark associated to Richard Oliver
Bloomfield., the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 gold and signed as follows, "RICH'D OLIVER
BLOOMFIELD 18KT".

The Edwardian Jewelry
This period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920. Edwardian-era rings tend to be larger, opulent pieces, and stacked ring designs were popular. The metal surfaces of the rings were often diamond-encrusted for additional shimmer. Each of these rings is a work of art, showcasing a bygone era of grace, elegance and the royalty the Edwardian era is named for.
