About the Item
THIS IS A GORGEOUS VICTORIAN - ART NOUVEAU PENDANT OR BROOCH IN THE FORM OF A STAR ADORNED THROUGHOUT WITH PINK AND BLUE ENAMEL FORGET-ME-NOT, OR PANSY, FLOWERS WITH AN OLD MINE CUT DIAMOND IN THE CENTER, AND IN 14 KARAT GOLD. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ENAMEL FLOWER JEWELS WE HAVE SEEN. THE COMBINATION OF THE STAR WITH THE FORGET-ME-NOT FLOWERS IN PINK AND BLUE WITH THE OMC DIAMOND CENTER AND THE TINY TREFOIL DESIGNS IN GOLD RADIATING OUT FROM THE STAR IS EXQUISITE. THE PENDANT IS SO FULL OF ROMANCE AND THE DELIGHTS OF NATURE. THE PENDANT DATES TO CIRCA 1860-1910
The pendant can also be worn as a brooch as the bale is articulated and flips down so as to be invisible. The pin stem may be removed if desired.
The pendant is in superb condition. The enamel is all intact and all original.
The pendant is 1 1/4 inches (30mm) tall including the bales and it is 1 inch (26mm) wide. Without the bales the star is 1 inch tall.
The pendant weighs 3.2 grams.
The pendant has a tiny hook at the bottom on the reverse of the pendant where you may add a drop if desired. This open hook is original to the piece and was designed as a day/night effect where if desired you could add an additional drop to the jewel.
