A modern pearl and diamond 14 karat white gold négligée style necklace
This striking necklace is composed of a rigid 14 karat white gold cross over front section claw set with round brilliant cut diamonds for a total of 1.27cts, assessed as G colour, VS2 clarity.
The cross-over diamond front section of the necklace is suspended with a pair of cultured freshwater pear shaped pearls of creamy-rose hue of 8-8.5mm each.
The necklace is secured with a clever hidden hinge to its reverse which allows the wearer to easily take it on and off.
Négligée necklaces, which came into fashion around 1900 are simply necklaces of fine links with two parallel pendants suspended asymmetrically at different lengths.
Fashion often dictated jewellery designs and the lower necklines of the Edwardian era demanded ornamentation. Thus making the négligée necklace a quintessential piece for the time!
