About the Item
An 18 karat gold Nefertiti bust charm pendant. Nefertiti was - before Cleopatra - one of the most famous and beautiful female rulers of ancient Egypt. This gold queen of the Nile is nicely detailed with her head dress. The great thing about charms is that you can collect them as wearable memories and add them to your necklace, charm bracelet or layered with your other favorites.
Nefertiti was the pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt and reigned as a great royal woman at the side of Akhenaten, the pharaoh who ruled Egypt at the beginning of the New Kingdom, from 1352 BC to 1338 BC, during the Amarna period. Her name Nefertiti means 'The Beautiful One has come'. Nefertiti owes much of her fame to her bust - believed to have been made by the sculptor Thutmoses - which is kept in the Neues Museum in Berlin. The bust was found on 6 December 1912 during an excavation at the Middle Egyptian site of Tell el-Amarna.
The charm is in very good condition and measures 25 mm in length including bail and width 12 mm. Hallmarked 585 on the charm bail. The bail is made of 14 karat gold and the bust is crafted in 18 karat gold.
