About the Item

A truly remarkable choker or dog collar style necklace from the 1970s by Princess Helietta Caracciolo. Four strands of faux red coral resin beads are strung on wire with gold and rhinestone set beads. They end with a multi strand hook and eye clasp. One end has the hook and the other 3 inches of extender chain. At the center of the necklace hangs a spectacular and large rhinestone set five point star pendant. It is set with faux coral beads, gold beads and a center coral glass cabochon. It measures 3.38 inches wide and high. The back center has the Helietta Caracciolo initial logo with crown and registry stamp inscribed on it. As the necklace beads are strung on wire and it is a dog collar style, it has a permeant curve and will fit up to a 15 inch circumference or smaller. Additional chaim may be added easily. The necklace is 2 inches wide with a drop of 5.5 inches including the pendant. Excellent condition. The earrings match the star pendant with the same glass coral cabochon set in center. Each clip earring measures 1.63 inches wide and high and has the Helietta Caracciolo initial logo with crown and registry stamp inscribed on the back. All pieces in excellent condition. Helietta Caracciolo was from one of Italy's oldest noble families and related to Marella Agnelli. She was born a Principessa Caracciolo di Castagneto. Helietta’s heyday was during the 1960’s and the beginning of the 1970’s during which the Cinecitta Studios were believed to become the new Hollywood and aristocratic ladies actually began to work for their money. In 1971, her villa in Rome was robbed and all of her jewelry was taken. Having been left with nothing, Helietta began to design and produce her own jewelry. Some in bijoux and other in genuine gold and gem stones. One of her design claims to fame was not only the World’s first round handbag for Jacqueline Kennedy, but also providing her jewellery for Death in Venice and many other classic Italian films.
