Fine and rare antique Edwardian sapphire, natural pearl and 14K yellow gold Disciples cross
Early 20th Century
The unusual design of this beautiful cross features an arrow motif at the arms, rich in symbolic meaning. In Christianity, arrows represent protection, clarity, guidance and spiritual truth. They also speak to legacy and the blessing of having children to extend one's heritage.
This fine cross centers seven faceted cornflower blue sapphires in a cross formation. Sapphires are among the most significant gemstones mentioned in the Bible. associated with divine authority and celestial beauty. Five natural seed pearls at each arm form the arrow points. The back is inscribed with ornate initials in script and a date, 05, which allows us to date it to the Edwardian period.

Pearls: Seed pearls measuring 1.40 mm - 2.00 mm
