About the Item
A magnificent example of traditional Indian artistry, this rare reversible necklace dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. The pendant features a striking dual design:
Front side: Showcases a large cabochon emerald at the center, surrounded by an intricate jali-style lattice of flat-cut diamonds set in gold-topped silver using the traditional kundan technique. Natural pearls dangle gracefully from the pendant’s lower edge, adding movement and elegance.
Reverse side: A vibrant hand-painted enamel tableau in red, green, and blue floral motifs on a rich gold background, exemplifying the refined art of meenakari (enameling) from the Mughal period.
The necklace is strung with two rows of lustrous natural pearls, enhancing its regal appearance and historical authenticity. This piece is not only a jewel but a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship of Indian royal courts.
