About the Item
From the Collection of Ferdinand I, Tsar of Bulgaria (1861-1948)
- Ruby, diamond and gold pendant.
- Period: Early 20th century
- Of circular design, collet-set with a cabochon ruby and a circular-cut diamond, from a curb-link chain
length approximately 610mm. The later added chain stamped 585 for 14 carat gold.
- Ruby purplish red of medium saturation, moderately included, dark crystal, nicks.
- Diamond weighing approximately 0.40 - 0.50 carat, bright and lively.
- Pendant measuring approximately 25 x 25mm. Gross weight approximately 22 grams.
The provenance is attested by a handwritten inventory from Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (1898-1985).
Ferdinand I, Tsar of Bulgaria (1861-1948) received this pendant as a seventieth birthday present in 1931.
