Saint Christophe Religious pendant. Belongs to the Art Nouveau (1895/1914 years) produced in France. Signed by of the most prominent French jewellery sculptors of Art Nouveau period Paul Brandt. He created jewellery for Cartier and many other prominent houses... His works are highly collectable and this one belongs to the beginning of his careers when he was focusing his talent on creating religious pendants. Pillar of modern jewelry in the 20s, Paul Brandt practiced alongside the biggest names such as Fouquet, Templar or Sandoz. Born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, he moved to Paris at a very young age where he pursued an eclectic training (jeweler, painter, sculptor, engraver in medals and on fine stones, enameler...). Seduced by the applied arts, he specializes in the creation of medals, then jewelry. First in an Art Nouveau style, then Art Deco, he participates in the various artistic events that animate the capital. Member of the jury, but also participant of the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts of 1925, he is presented as one of the actors of the "complete transformation" and acquires an international fame. Paul Brandt thinks of his jewels as works of art and theorizes their presentation on the occasion of avant-garde scenographies for which he collaborates with the greatest modern architects of the time such as Eric Bagge and Djo-Bourgeois. From the 1930s, he returned to a more "industrial" art and extended his activity to interior decoration. This first monograph illustrates the talent of this major artist, both in jewelry and in the field of French and international decorative arts. Retracing his entire career, it shows the extent of Paul Brandt's skills, in the field of jewelry, but also in the fields of medals, decoration and interior design.
