About the Item
This is an absolutely magnificent Natural Multicolor Sapphire and Opal Mask Pendant in Silver and 14 Karat Gold. The extraordinary jewel is set throughout with Natural Mined Multicolor Sapphires of great beauty. The four large sapphires at the bottom of the mask range from approximately 1 Carat to 1.25 Carats each, and are approximately 6 - 7mm in diameter. The natural sapphires include blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, and pink sapphires. The sapphires are all faceted and have exquisite color and fire. The jewels are all set "a jour" (open backed) in order to let the maximum amount of light through. I am just crazy about these natural sapphires. Their explosion of color set throughout the mask motif is just fabulous. In addition to the sapphires there are two round opals. The mask is a combination of silver and 14 Karat Yellow Gold. The combination of the sapphires, opals, silver and gold create a magical jewel. The pendant is a fabulous large size and is exquisitely modeled with wonderful three dimensionality.
The pendant comes from the collection of a retired Master Jeweler from Cartier Paris. The jeweler created many of Cartier's iconic jewels during his years with Cartier. His knowledge of gems and antique jewels and his exquisite curatorial sense are reflected in his extraordinary collection of antique jewelry.
The pendant is 2 5/8 inches (6.5cm) long including the bales. It is 2 1/4 inches long without the bales. The pendant is 2 1/4 inches wide.
The pendant is silver and 14 Karat Yellow Gold.
The pendant weighs 26 grams.
