About the Item
The Sphinx Pendant is a hand sculpted lapis lazuli gemstone embodied with 22k gold vermeil on 925 sterling silver. The intaglio on the gemstone is an illustration of an ancient Egypt mythological creature SPHINX with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of a falcon. In Egyptian culture Sphinx has been adorned and symbolised with royalty, sacred status and their solar deity, Sun God, Horemakhet or Horus of the Horizon. To compliment the artisanship on the stone the intaglios have been embellished with a gold leaf.
This design features an open-back gemstone setting for full connection with the stone’s natural properties, and can be personalized with a custom engraving. To add your own inscription, please select the ‘Custom Engraving’ option before adding to chart.

Lapis was revered for thousands of years in ancient Egypt, where it was thought to guide the soul into immortality and allow the heart to be opened to love. The Royal Stone was rumoured to hold the gods' souls. Lapis is thought to strengthen the immune system, lower blood pressure, purify the blood, and reduce any inflammation in the body. Lapis Lazuli can help you establish a connection to clarity, honesty, and intuition as a stone that promotes wisdom and communication.
In order to be effective Lapis Lazuli is suggested to be contacted with skin. The craftsmanship of the necklace is carefully designed in-line with the gemstone’s properties as the back of the necklace is completely open allowing the gemstone to contact the wearer.
