About the Item
Victorian 19th century Neo-Gothic Etruscan Necklace.
This is a magnificent and exceptional antique necklace, created in England during the late Victorian era (1840-1901), back in 1880. The delicate necklace was carefully crafted with mixed Etruscan-revival and neo-gothic styles in solid yellow gold of 19 karats. The design is composed of the assembling of forty-two elaborated links-elements showing scrolls and little shells, mixed with thin geometrics and spherical parts. The necklace is embellished with an assortment of twenty-four natural white pearls of 3 mm and is fitted with a concealed push security box, with an alternative removable section to wear shorter or longer. This is a gorgeous necklace with fabulous eye appeal, with all its original parts from the stated period. This is an important collector's jewelry piece. Gothic Revival influenced the design of Victorian jewelry, especially in the latter part of the 19th century. This style was characterized by bold, black enamel and larger pieces that complemented the heavier crinolines and cuffs of the time.
Pearls: Mounted in bar settings, with 24 natural white pearls of 3 mm.
Weight: 64.75 Grams (41.50 Dwt).
Measurements: Full extended length is 15.75 Inches (40 Cm).
The dangle drop in the center is 54 mm (2.13
Inches).
Hallmarks: No marks, tested for 19 karats gold, (.800/.999 Au.).
The Victorian
This era is one of the most influenced and influential periods of antique jewelry. This period is defined by the British monarch, in this case, Alexandrina Victoria, the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as the Empress of India, years 1837-1901. There are 3 sub-periods within this era. First, the early Romantic period, which is soaked in traditions, natural motifs in gold and silver, clear stones only being worn during the day and colored gems by night. The second being the Grand or mourning period, which coincides with the death of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert the consort, who died in December of 1861. This period included large, dark, somber, dramatic jewelry, with a lot of black onyx, jet wood, amethyst, garnet and gold. This lasted until the 1880's, when the aesthetic period of jewelry began. The Late or third stage of the Victorian period uses more complex and feminine motifs, returning to the natural, including many floral and celestial designs, with more decadent gemstones, lasting until the turn of the century. The Victorian era of jewelry includes many movements found in other countries, including revivals such as the Etruscan the Roman and the Egyptian as well as the Art Nouveau, Liberty style and Arts and Crafts design movements which lead into the beginning of the twentieth century.
Note: The white pearls mounted in this necklace are natural, perfectly matched in color and calibrated in size with very smooth surfaces and no stains. The pearls are original from the stated period and don't show any replacements.
Collateral: This necklace is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this Victorian necklace is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 24 pearls are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.

VICTORIAN Bohemian 1880 Gilt Festoon Necklace With 112.90 Ctw In Natural Garnets
Located in Miami, FL
Victorian large festoon necklace with Bohemian red garnets.
This is a fabulous and rare antique festoon Bohemian necklace created in England during the late Victorian era, back in the 1880's. The outstanding necklace is pretty impressive in size and was masterfully crafted in gilt metal. It is composed by nineteen links and five dangle drops elements, which are embellished with a fabulous assortment of three hundred-ninety-eight natural intense red garnets. These rose and cabochons cut garnet stones were a Victorian favorite, often used in late-era jewelry designs. The necklace length is little over the sixteen inches and is fitted with a concealed security push box. This is an amazing iconic piece from the period in tremendous grade of preservation with absolutely no gemstones replacements. Surely an eye-catcher and a great conversation piece.
Festoon Necklace
A festoon necklace, is a design motif of a garland or string of flowers, leaves or ribbons. A festoon is a type of necklace that contains several drapes or swags of beads, chains, metal extensions, or other parts as the core elements of the design. Was very popular in the 18th and 19th century and even today.
