Victorian secret locket pendant in 14k rose gold. Secret pendant in the form of an architectural element, a well or a chimney, opening at the top to conceal an object or sentimental item. The pendant bears the inscription "I was with my necklace in several narrow holes" ("J'étois avec mon collier dans plusieurs trous étroits"). This piece of jewelry with an enigmatic message may have a bawdy meaning or hide a play on words. Antique pendant, early 19th century.
