About the Item
This rock crystal natural pearl and delicate enamel locket is a rare piece of jewelry history made by one of the most world renown and accomplished jewelers, Carlo Guiliano. It is a small but important gem. Guiliano's reputation has always been synonymous with exquisite jewelry. The condition of the locket is perfection. Note the original bale that repeats his telltale enameling. Some collectors place a photo or a collection of small gems under the crystal. I love the locket clear as is. Carlo Giuliano was born in Naples and studied with another master of archeological revival jewelry, Alessandro Castellani. They came to England in 1860 and created jewelry for famous shops there. In 1864 Guiliano opened his own studio on Piccadilly Circus. He created jewelry for royalty including Queen Alexandra and Queen Victoria. A piece of Giuliano jewelry is a beautiful heirloom that is simple enough to wear by everyone. In his time, only aristocrats or royalty had the priviledge. Size Height 1 5/8 with bale.
