About the Item
A Victorian heart-shaped blue enamel, pearl and diamond pendant-necklace, the heart-shaped locket centrally set with a round pearl surrounded by eight rose-cut diamonds on light-blue enamel background, suspended by a blue enamelled bow and a single diamond surmount, the old European-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.35 carats, all mounted in yellow gold with fine engraved floral decorations and a locket compartment on the back, suspended from a snake chain with a bold ring clasp, circa 1880, the pendant measuring 3x1.7cm, the chain measuring 34cm long, gross weight 11.4 grams.
This antique pendant-necklace is in very good consition for its age. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold and 15ct gold chain.
A charming late Victorian pendant necklace from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. This romantic heart-shaped pendant features a lustrous pearl surrounded by twinkling diamonds forming a lovely flower on top of a blue enamelled heart. The heart is further decorated with a bow and a splendid old European diamond that catches the light beautifully. There is a locket compartment on the back that once allowed the sentimental Victorians to keep their beloved’s locks of hair close to their hearts. The colour of the enamel is an eye-catching turquoise blue which is beautifully complemented by the sparkle of the old cut diamonds and warm glow of yellow gold. The pendant is suspended from a flexible snake chain necklace. A beautiful example of one of the most recognised symbols of the Victorian era.
