About the Item
A Victorian lapis, half pearl and diamond pendant, in the form of a stylised Latin cross, set with twelve square cabochon-cut lapis and embellished with four fleur-de-lis clusters of half pearls and old-cut diamonds, to closed satin-finish yellow gold mount and suspended from a lapis and half-pearl pendant loop, accompanied by round cabochon-set lapis and yellow gold chain, pendant measuring approximately 7.0 x 4.3cm and the chain has a total length of 40cm, circa 1880, gross weight 32.7 grams.
This dramatic High Victorian cross pendant and chain come from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. The yellow gold chain is set throughout with deep blue cabochon-cut lapis lazuli stones, which provide a regal and luxurious complement to the yellow gold. Suspended from the chain is an ornate Latin cross set with square cabochon-cut lapis and clusters of pearls decorating the stylised ends of the cross. The pearl clusters are in the shape of fleur-de-lis, set to the middle with glittering old-cut diamonds, adding an elegant addition to this magnificent piece. A wonderful antique necklace.
