Why is there a serpent on this lapis lazuli egg from the Victorian era? In antique jewelry there was symbolism everywhere. This pendant is called the Orphic Egg. The snake entwined on the egg represents the strength of the life force. It has the lovely meaning of enduring love as well. . This serpent is silver with a slight gold tone, the lapis is marbled. Both tactile with rough snake scales and the smooth lapis. it is a stunning object with perfect sensibility for our time. Condition is excellent. Height: 1 1/8 inches Width 1/2 inch Weight 11.2 grams
