INDULGE IN A GORGEOUS VICTORIAN - BELLE EPOQUE DIAMOND PICTURE LOCKET PENDANT IN WARM 10 KARAT GOLD WITH A GORGEOUS OLD MINE CUT DIAMOND IN THE CENTER. THE REVERSE IS ADORNED WITH AN ENGRAVED AESTHETIC PERIOD SCENE OF A JAPANESE MOUNTAIN LAKE WITH TEMPLE. THE LOCKET IS A SWIVEL DESIGN LOCKET AND IS A PERFECT SIZE - 7/8 INCH IN DIAMETER.
This is a stunning Diamond Victorian Belle Epoque picture locket. It is in a lovely solid 10 Karat gold. In the center is a gorgeous antique Old Mine Cut Diamond that is brilliantly white with all of the fire we love in the antique diamonds. The diamond is set within a fabulous star design. The reverse side of the swivel locket is engraved with an Aesthetic Period scene of a Japanese mountain lake with a floating temple and a hanging bridge at the bottom. The engraving is beautifully done and creates a romantic delicate period jewel. The locket opens to reveal the photo compartments with places for 2 photos or a treasured keepsake. The locket is a treasure to be enjoyed and to be passed on for generations. It is the perfect size to be worn as a pendant necklace or added to your favorite bracelet as a charm.
The Aesthetic Movement 1860 – 1900 aimed to escape the ugliness and materialism of the Industrial Age, by focusing instead on producing art that was beautiful rather than having a deeper meaning – 'Art for Art's sake'. The artists and designers in this 'cult of beauty' crafted some of the most sophisticated and sensuously beautiful artworks of the Western tradition and in the process remade the domestic world of the middle-classes. The Aesthetic Movement was heavily influenced by Japanese artistry and images.
